Disabled people and health in Europe

Health is a human right. Yet for many disabled people across Europe, accessing healthcare is still far from equal.
The numbers speak for themselves. Too many disabled people continue to face barriers that lead to unmet healthcare needs, poorer health outcomes, and unequal access to services.
These inequalities are not inevitable. They can be reduced when healthcare systems become more accessible, more inclusive, and more responsive to people’s needs.
Through the RomInDis project, we are working to support healthcare professionals and Roma Health Mediators in creating healthcare services that are accessible, respectful, and equitable for Roma people with mobility impairments.
Every step towards accessible healthcare is a step towards a more inclusive society.
